Permanent attention to detail and many hours in front of the cryostat can be exhausting for the user. The Leica CM3050 S cryostat is designed to help with exactly these time-consuming jobs.
The low working height and available knee space of the Leica CM3050 S cryostat allow the user to work comfortably while sitting. Motorized drive and section counter improve productivity for multiple serial sections.
Particularly when working with delicate specimens, e.g. brain samples, the precise specimen orientation and the specimen feed system provide for reproducible sections.

Precision Sectioning
When working with large samples, accurate specimen orientation and feed are crucial. The precise specimen orientation system with zero position provides for x/y adjustment of up to 8°. The specimen feed system with 25mm horizontal feed allows for reproducible thin sections.
Precision Cooling
An independent refrigeration system for the object head provides for temperature changes and efficient specimen temperature control to adjust for difficult samples such as brain or fatty tissue.
Highly efficient insulating materials and a dedicated cooling system support stable cryochamber temperatures, even when producing serial sections all day long.
Stay Organized
With critical items at hand, you can focus on your sectioning job. Freezing stage and tool tray in a large cryochamber, as well as an easily accessible storage area on top of the cryostat help you to stay organized. The motor drive with foot-pedal enables you to have both hands free for sample handling.
Stay Focused
Section thickness totalizer and counter with reset button facilitate target preparation and promote fast trimming between levels. With the reverse section counter, a preselected number of sections can be carried out in both sectioning and trimming mode.
Comfortable Sitting Position
The Leica CM3050 S cryostat with its low working height and available knee space allows the user to work comfortably while sitting.
The optional electrohydraulic height adjustment grants tall users an adjustable working height and even more knee space. For users who prefer standing when sectioning, the height adjustment can lift the instrument up to standing working height.
